I saw Junior Boys and their nameless opening act (I never caught their name, but they were so embarrassing, like "WHAT UP BUFFALO! PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!" and there were like thirty people vaguely paying attention to them) at the Big Orbit Soundlab in Buffalo this past Tuesday. They are an electronic/indie trio-once-duo from Hamilton, Ontario.
Junior Boys ended their set with my two jams, "In The Morning" and "FM," then came back for a one-song encore. Here's a track from their latest album, released on my biiiirthday, 2009.
Junior Boys - "Dull To Pause"
All the time spent over nothing, seems like you're done, you are

Brand New came out with their Brand New album (haha) Daisy back on Sept 22nd. The first song (which has a bit of Devil & God sound) is to be their first single off of it. The album has a bit more of a screamo sound to it, but with many similar themes as in Devil & God.
Brand New - "At The Bottom"
This second song has been on my playlist as of late. I love the build-up and then the release.
Brand New - "You Won't Know"
Love is just God on a good day

He was just in Buffalo at the Town Ballroom this past Tuesday, opening for The Get-Up Kids. I didn't get a chance to go, but I've seen him in New York and of all the "kids with a guitar, so drunk and anxious," he's pretty good.
Kevin Devine - "Ballgame"
A good man doesn't drink, and I've been drinking alone So what does that make me? My hands they always shake, and no one's calling my phone. So what does that make me? I know the kid with his guitar so drunk and anxious, It's been done to death but tell me what hasn't, I'll try it. Because I'm selfish enough to want to get better, But I'm backwards enough not to take any steps to get there. And when you realize it's a pattern and not a phase, It's what you've become and it's what you will stay, That's the ballgame.
